Phone snatching

Dear All,

This is a message to warn notify residents that there has been an increase in phone snatches in the Victoria area in recent weeks. A problem more normally associated with Oxford Street and the West End now appears to be happening in and around our ward. The snatches are often two-wheel enabled, with e-bikes being used to mount the pavement in order to commit the offences. The bikes are almost silent which makes them harder to detect. 

Therefore, please be careful using your mobile phones when out and about; if you do need to check your messages or find directions on your device, consider moving away from the edge of road and be mindful of those around you when doing so.
